Google Shopping Agency for Shopify Brands

Every Google Shopping agency will tell you they audit your feed before they take you on. Almost none of them will let you see the audit before you book a call.

Run ours now. Paste your store URL, get a score against 40 checks in about 15 seconds, and decide afterwards whether you want to talk to us.

Google Shopping is won in the feed, not the campaign

Google Shopping doesn't work like Search. You don't choose keywords. Google reads your product data and decides which queries each item is eligible for, and it makes that decision from the feed.

Which means in Google Shopping the feed isn't a setup step. It's the targeting layer.

Bad feeds lose before campaigns even launch.

The most common version we see: a store with forty colourways, every one carrying the same templated title. Google reads forty near-identical products, matches them all to the same handful of queries, and they compete against each other while the long tail goes unserved. Nothing in the campaign settings can fix that. The fix is in the feed.

We wrote up the mechanics of that specific failure in our guide to Google Shopping feed optimisation for product variants, and the structure underneath it in our guide to Google Shopping title optimisation, if you want the detail.

What a Google Shopping audit checks, and what each failure costs

These are the six categories the audit above scores. They're also the six things we work on continuously once a Google Shopping account is live.

Titles

The single highest-leverage field in the feed. Google weights it heavily for query matching, and most Shopify stores ship the theme default. Brand, product type, and the attributes people actually search need to be in there, in that order.

Identifiers

GTIN, MPN, and brand. Missing or invalid identifiers cause disapprovals and suppress eligibility for free listings. It's a silent failure: the products just don't appear.

Variants

Whether size and colour variants are structured as a group or as unrelated duplicates. Get this wrong and your own products bid against each other.

Images

Resolution, background, and policy compliance. Promotional overlays and watermarks are a disapproval trigger, and lifestyle-only imagery underperforms in a grid of white-background competitors.

Descriptions

Lower weighting than titles, but still read for matching. Copy written for the product page rarely serves the feed, and truncation loses the part that mattered.

Campaign readiness

Price and availability matching the landing page, shipping and tax configured, and product categorisation set. These are the checks that decide whether a campaign can serve at all.

What Google Shopping management includes

Feed audit and rebuild

We start here on every account. Titles rewritten against real query data, attributes filled, identifiers fixed, variant structure rebuilt. Then re-checked as your catalogue changes, not filed away as a completed project.

Shopping campaign structure

Google Shopping campaigns split by product line and margin band, rather than one campaign holding the whole catalogue. High-margin products deserve different targets to clearance stock, and a single campaign can't express that.

Performance Max, structured

Asset groups by product line and region, with brand exclusions set so PMax isn't quietly buying traffic you already own. Run properly it's the strongest surface Google has. Run as one undifferentiated campaign it's a budget leak with good reporting.

Conversion tracking verification

Before we optimise anything, we reconcile Google Ads conversions against your Shopify order count. If those two numbers disagree, every ROAS figure downstream is fiction and no amount of feed work will help.

Daily optimisation against break-even

Bids, budgets, and structure worked every day against your real break-even ROAS, calculated from contribution margin. Here's how that number is worked out, and you can run yours in our calculator.

The numbers

Real client accounts, with the break-even each ROAS was measured against. The second number is what makes the first one mean anything.

BrandSpendTracked revenueROASBreak-evenTimeframe
Sports sunglasses (UK)£115,022£556,8854.8x1.7x9 months
Jewellery (AU)A$108,876A$331,0923.0x1.3x5 months
Pet accessories (UK)£31,198£177,5935.7x1.58x9 weeks

Across the portfolio: $150M+ in tracked revenue, 70+ Shopify brands, 4.4x average blended ROAS. Google Partner certified.

The sports sunglasses account is the clearest Google Shopping story of the three. It arrived with an inflated brand-only ROAS that looked healthy and created no new demand. We rebuilt the feed, then built the non-brand engine: Shopping split by product line, PMax split by region, competitor campaigns on top. Spend scaled from £340 a month to over £21,000, and the account cleared break-even in 9 months out of 9.

The jewellery account needed the feed rebuilt too, but only after the tracking was fixed. Page views, carts, and checkouts were all counted as conversions with duplicate purchase trackers on top. Feed work on top of that would have been optimisation against fiction.

What clients say

"We've now grown to 16% of our revenue coming from Google, but only 8% of our ad spend is Google. Our return on ad spend is much better on Google than it is everywhere else."

Founder, pet accessories brand

"Best in the business, super clear instructions, and always on standby to answer my questions. Highly recommend."

James Pullicino

"My go to team for all things Google Ads, always results driven. Highly recommended!"

How it works

  1. 01 Run the Google Shopping feed audit above. You'll have a score and the failing categories before you speak to anyone. Take it to another agency if you'd rather.
  2. 02 Discovery call (15 minutes). We go through what the audit found, ask about your margin structure, and tell you whether Google Shopping is where your money should go next.
  3. 03 Fix the feed and the tracking. In that order, before any spend gets scaled. This is usually the first four weeks.
  4. 04 Build and scale. Google Shopping by product line, PMax by region, managed daily against your break-even ROAS.

Questions founders ask before booking

Three things that depend on each other: the Merchant Center product feed, Shopping campaigns, and Performance Max. The feed is the one most agencies treat as setup rather than ongoing work, which is why it's usually where we find the problem. Titles, attributes, identifiers, and variant structure decide which queries your products are eligible for before any bid is set.
Neither is better in the abstract. PMax works when it's structured by product line and region and fed a healthy catalogue. Given one asset group and the whole catalogue, it spends wherever it likes and you lose the ability to see what's working. We run both, split by what the data supports.
Most commonly missing or invalid GTINs, a price or availability mismatch between the feed and the landing page, missing shipping or tax configuration, or image policy failures. The free audit at the top of this page scores your catalogue against 40 checks in about 15 seconds and tells you which products are affected.
We do. Feed work isn't a one-off setup task handed back to your developer. Titles get rewritten, attributes get filled, variant structure gets rebuilt, and it gets re-checked as your catalogue changes. It's part of the management, not a project fee.
No. Shopify D2C brands doing $2–5M a year, and nothing else. The feed mechanics, the Google & YouTube channel, and the app conflicts that break purchase tracking are all Shopify-specific. On another platform you'd be paying us to learn it.
Management fees typically run 10–20% of ad spend or a flat retainer. The question that matters more is whether the fee clears your break-even ROAS, because a fee raises the ROAS you need to hit before anything is profitable. Our guide to Google Ads management pricing shows the arithmetic.

You've seen the score. Now see what it's worth fixing.

The Google Shopping audit tells you which categories are failing. The call tells you what those failures are costing you in lost impressions and wasted spend, and which ones are worth fixing first.

You keep the findings either way.
